About
Isack Lugata is a Computer Science student at the University of Dar es Salaam (CoICT) and the Chairperson of the 3D Solutions and Robotics Lab, where he leads initiatives at the intersection of artificial intelligence, robotics, 3D printing, and IoT. With a deep passion for building technology that matters, Isack focuses on transforming complex problems into practical, scalable solutions tailored for real-world impact in Tanzania and beyond.
He has hands-on experience designing and developing AI-powered systems, including Wakili Msomi, a legal assistant chatbot built using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to improve access to Tanzanian legal resources. Through this project and his field training at Bluefin Solutions Ltd in collaboration with Sheria Kiganjani, he gained practical exposure to full-stack development using FastAPI, React.js, PostgreSQL, and modern AI pipelines.
Isack is also actively involved in advanced AI projects such as Swahili language processing, phonemization, number-to-words systems, and the development of Swahili-focused language models. His technical interests span machine learning, natural language processing, robotics automation, self-driving systems, and backend infrastructure for scalable AI services.
Beyond coding, Isack is a community builder and technology advocate. Through the 3D Solutions and Robotics Lab, he organizes trainings, workshops, and innovation programs aimed at empowering students with hands-on skills in AI, robotics, and digital fabrication. He is particularly passionate about creating opportunities for young innovators through hackathons, industry partnerships, and career guidance initiatives.
Driven, curious, and impact-oriented, Isack envisions a future where African-built technologies solve African problems—and he is actively working to make that future tangible.
