E-GAS AFRICA (GESIPOA) was founded to address one of Tanzania’s most critical challenges: heavy dependence on charcoal and firewood for cooking, which drives deforestation, indoor air pollution, and high household energy costs. Despite LPG being a cleaner and more efficient alternative, its adoption has remained low due to high upfront costs for cylinders, refilling, and transportation.

E-GAS AFRICA introduces a Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) model that allows users to purchase cooking gas in small, affordable amounts starting from as low as TSh 1,000 through mobile money platforms such as M-Pesa, Yas-Pesa, and Selcom. The system removes financial barriers by eliminating the need for customers to own cylinders or pay for logistics.

By integrating smart metering and real-time data analytics, the platform enables transparent usage tracking, efficient fuel management, and data-driven insights on consumption and emissions. This digital infrastructure supports scalability from individual households to large institutions such as schools, hospitals, and enterprises.

E-GAS AFRICA’s vision is to transform cooking energy access in Tanzania by making clean fuel as accessible as charcoal, while contributing to climate action, public health improvement, and sustainable economic development.
